우리나라 초창기 영어교육은 선교사들이 기독교 신앙을 전하기 위한 접근에서 시작되었지만 이와 같은 흐름이 일제시대 이후로 단절된 가운데 오늘날의 영어교육은 주로 시험 및 의사소통의 수단으로서 개인주의적이고 실용주의적인 접근이 지배적이다. 대부분의 대학에서 대학교양영어 교과과정에 영어과목이 존재하지만 성경적 가치관을 실현하는 과목은 찾아보기 쉽지 않다. 이와 같은 상황에서 신앙서적을 통해서 성경적 세계관을 이해하는데 영어가 좋은 수단이 될 수 있다는 것을 본 연구에서 주목하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 전세계적 베스트셀러인 󰡔The Purpose Driven Life󰡕(Warren, 2002)(한국어 제목: 목적이 이끄는 삶)이라는 신앙서적을 영어교재로 사용한 대학교양영어 강의 사례를 제시하고자 하였다. 1장에서는 기독교적 영어교육의 필요성과 교재에 대한 간단한 소개를, 2장에서 기독교적 영어교육의 목적, 기독교적 영어교재 및 기독교적 영어교수자의 정체성을 언급하였고 3장에서는 구체적인 강의 사례와 함께 학생들의 저널을 통해서 학생들에게 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 수업에서 읽기, 듣기, 쓰기 및 말하기의 의사소통 네기능을 통합한 수업과정을 통해서 학생들의 신앙 정체성을 찾아가는 과정을 소개하였다. 이와 같은 강의 사례소개를 통해서 교양영어 선택과목이 확대 발전되면서 대학교양영어 교실에서도 학생들에게 성경 및 신앙서적을 통해서 기독교적 세계관을 전달하는 좋은 논의가 활성화되기를 기대하였다. |

Although the first English education in Korea was initiated by missionaries to evangelize Christianity, this approach to English education was halted in the Japanese colonial era. And even in the 21st century, there has been a considerable amount of practical and individual approach to English education in Korea, but little has been studied on Christian approach in that field. In order to fill this gap, we need to do more research on Christian English education. In this paper, a world best-selling book, 󰡔The purpose driven life󰡕(Warren, 2002), was used to explore a new way for Christian English education. By using this book, this paper tries to show an effective way to teach a Biblical point of view as a case study of a general English course in a university context. More specifically, chapter one is about the importance of Christian English education and the introduction of the textbook. In chapter two, the importance of Christian English education, the identity of a Christian English teacher, and Christian English methodology were mentioned. In chapter three, teaching practice with an analysis of the students'' journals was reviewed. By integrating four communicative skills: reading, listening, writing and speaking with the textbook, students have changed the way they think and act. In chapter four, a summary and a suggestion on how to teach Christian worldview were mentioned. |
