해석은 인간에게 불가피한 정신 활동이기 때문에 해석을 하지 않고 세계와 텍스트에 접근할 수 없다. 그런데 해석은 세계관에서 출발하고, 해석의 차이는 세계관의 차이에 기인한다. 루터를 비롯한 종교 개혁자들의 성경의 명확성(claritas)에 대한 주장은 객관적인 성경 해석에서 나온 말이 아니고, 세계에 대한 특정한 시각에서 파생된 주장이다. 세계관을 통해서 세계를 보는 것은 결코 부정적인 것이 아니라, 오히려 그 자체로 선한 인간의 정신 활동이다. 그리고 우리는 기독교적 세계 이해가 참된 세계 이해라고 주장한다. 따라서 기독교적 세계관을 통해서 성경을 읽을 필요가 있다. 이 말은 성경을 성경의 관점에서 읽어야 한다는 종교개혁 해석학의 원리와도 부합한다. 성경을 성경의 관점에서 읽는다는 것은 성경 외부의 추상적 원리를 통해서 성경을 읽는 것이 아니라, 성경 자체의 이야기적 흐름에 따라서 성경을 읽는다는 것을 의미한다. 그리고 이 이야기 자체가 기독교적 세계관을 표현하는 핵심적인 매체이다. 이야기는 시작과 목표 그리고 결말을 가지고 있다. 성경은 창조에서 시작해서 그리스도라는 목표를 향해서 진행되고 심판과 종말로 이야기를 끝맺는다. 바로 이러한 틀이 기독교적 세계 이해의 틀이고, 이러한 세계에 대한 비전은 이교적 세계관에 도전한다. 그런데 이러한 전통적인 성경 이해가 근대를 거치면서 보편 이성을 바탕으로 하는 성경 해석의 영향으로 쇠퇴했다. 그러다가 20세기 들어 내러티브 신학의 부흥으로 이야기-세계관적 읽기가 다시 회복될 수 있는 좋은 호기를 맞고 있다. 기독교 신학자들은 이러한 호기를 적극 활용해 교회가 올바로 성경을 해석하고, 실천적 신앙에 이를 수 있도록 힘써야 할 것이다. |

All human beings cannot have access to the world and text without interpretation, for it is an inevitable mental activity in human lives. An interpretation is derivative from a worldview. Different worldviews give birth to the conflicts of interpretation. The clarity(claritas) of Scripture for the Reformers, especially for Luther, does not mean the objective clarity of Scripture, but rather the clarity in light of the Reformer’s worldview. Holding a worldview is a good activity in itself. We maintain that the Christian conception of the world is the true understanding of it. So it is necessary to read the Scripture in light of Christian worldview. This means that we have to read the Scripture through the eyes of Scripture. This principle conforms to the Reformation principle of reading the Scripture, the principle that we must not interpret the Scripture through the ideas alien to the Scripture itself and that we have to read it in following the scriptural narrative. The framework of the scriptural narrative is itself the expression of the Christian worldview. This framework is constituted of creation, fall and redemption. However, this narrative configuration of the Scripture had begun to disappear with the coming of modern worldview and its reading of the Scripture supported by the supremacy of universal human reason. But in the 20th century there arose a revival of narrative theology, a good symptom for the revitalization of the traditional narrative reading of the Scripture. We Christian theologians should take this opportunity for the promotion of Christian scholarship and the church’s practices in the secularized modern world. |
