본 논문은 데보티오 모데르나(Devotio Moderna) 운동에 관한 역사적 고찰이다. 이는 14세기 후반에 네덜란드 데벤터에서 히어트 흐로터(Geert Groote)에 의해 시작되었고 플로렌스 라더베인스(Florens Radewyns), 요한 첼레(Johan Cele) 및 토마스 아 켐피스(Thomas à Kempis) 등에 의해 공동생활 형제단 및 자매단으로 더욱 발전하여 유럽 전체로 확산된 평신도 중심의 개혁 운동으로 겸손, 순종 및 단순한 삶과 같은 진정한 경건을 개인 및 공동체적으로 실천하고 나아가 사회의 여러 경제 분야에서 직접, 간접적으로 네덜란드와 유럽사회를 변화시켰다. 지금도 이 운동은 깊은 영적 유산을 남기고 있어 결코 과소평가할 수 없다. 본 논문에서는 이 운동이 어떻게 구체적으로 일어나 확산되었으며 나아가 종교개혁(Reformation)에 어떤 영향을 주었고 유럽을 어떤 방식으로 변혁시켰는지 고찰한 후 이 운동이 남긴 유산은 무엇이며 이것이 한국교회 및 사회에 주는 교훈이 무엇인지를 결론적으로 도출한다. |
| 영문 초록 |
This article is a historical research on Devotio Moderna movement. It was a reformation movement in Europe, trying to transform the church and society at that time by rediscovering the true practice of piety such as that of humility, obedience and simple life. It is never to be underestimated because it has left considerably spiritual heritage and still makes a tremendous impact. This article, therefore, first investigates how this movement was begun by Geert Groote at the end of the 14th century in Deventer, the Netherlands. Furthermore, it deals with the development of this movement by F. Raderwijns, J. Cele and Thomas à Kempis to see how it has transformed Europe. In conclusion, an attempt is made to identify what kind of contribution it has made and what are the implications of this reformation to Korean context. |
