| 국문 초록 | 본 연구의 목적은 한국 현대 기독교 미술의 현실 인식과 조형적 체현의 실천적 사례들을 살펴봄으로써 기독교 미술의 지평을 확장하고 오늘의 기독교 미술이 한국 사회와 문화 전반에서 미술로서 감당해야할 역할과 책무, 그 실천적 영향력을 제고하는데 있다. 이를 위해서 한국 현대 기독교미술의 역사와 현 상황을 먼저 이해하고, 기독교세계관으로 현실의 문제들을 조망하고 표현하는 작가와 작품들 가운데 통일과 평화의 주제를 다루는 작가와 작품세계를 고찰하였다. 정리된 문헌자료와 전시 감상, 답사와 면담 등의 방법을 활용하였고 작품들을 분석하고 비교하였다. 설치와 퍼포먼스를 통해 한반도 평화와 통일을 문제를 지속적으로 다루어온 허진권 작가, 최근 ‘부드러운 장벽’을 주제로 전시회를 가진 조각가 이웅배의 설치작품, 분단의 상징으로서 철조망의 형상과 오브제를 활용한 연구자의 작품 연작, 노인들의 기억에 남아있는 전쟁의 기억과 이미지를 그린 김복동의 회화 작품, 통일 비전캠프에 복음의 의미와 정신을 체현하여 설치한 한 심정아의 작품세계를 중심으로 연구하였다. 작가들에서 발견되는 공통점은 성장기 환경이나 가정사의 배경, 또는 개인적인 고난의 경험 속에서 복음이 갖는 화해와 통일의 정신을 깊이 이해하고 작품 속에 체현하여 실천적으로 드러낸다는 것이다. 연구의 결과 평화와 통일을 주제로 한 기독 작가의 작품들은 한국 현대 기독교미술의 지평을 특정한 종교적 주제에 매이지 않고 기독교 세계관으로 현실의 문제에 대해 조망하는 미술로 확장한다. 그리고 복음의 정신을 미술의 영역에 조형적으로 체현함으로써 기독교 미술의 사회 변혁적 책임을 감당하려는 노력을 보여준다. 본 연구의 작품들은 통일과 평화를 바라는 오늘의 한국 사회와 문화 속에서 실천적인 현대 기독교미술의 사례로서 의미를 가지며 영향력 있는 대안으로 지속인 연구의 필요성이 있다. |
| 영문 초록 | The purpose of this study is to expand the horizon of Christian art by examining the practical examples of contemporary Korean Christian art and its formative embodiment, to explain the roles, responsibilities of Christian art as art in Korean society and culture, and to increase its practical influence. To this end, the study first reviews the history and current situation of Korean contemporary Christian art, and then examines artists and works that survey and express the problems of the real world through Christian world view specifically focusing on those dealing with the theme of reunification and peace. This study utilized methods such as documentary research, appreciation of exhibitions, exploration and interviews, and the works were analyzed and compared. What is commonly found among these artists is that they all have a profound understanding of the sprit of reinoculation and reunification of the Gospel, whether it be from their growing environments, family history or any other personal experiences of sufferings, and they strive to practically embody this spirit into their art works. The study finds that the works of Christian artists on the subject of peace and reunification extend the horizon of Korean contemporary Christian art to art which encompasses the problems of the real world through Christian world view without being bound to specific religious themes. Moreover, they also bears the responsibility of social transformation by formatively embodying the spirit of the Gospel in the realm of art. It is hoped that these works examined by this research would serve as an influential alternative to contemporary Christian art in a participatory and practical manner in Korean society today. The works of this study are meaningful as examples of practical contemporary Christian art in today's Korean society and culture which is hoping for reunification and peace, and there is a need for continuous research as an influential alternative. |
