| 국문 초록 | 그림책의 시작은 『세계도회』로서 어린이에게 하나님의 존재와 말씀을 알려주기 위해 만들어졌다. 그러나 현대 그림책의 의미는 무엇을 가르치는 것에서 벗어나 아이들의 격하고 흥분된 감정을 드러내며 아이다움을 발산하는 것으로 변하였다. 연구가들은 변화의 기점을 모리스 센닥의 그림책으로 보고 있다. 이에 대한 정신분석적 해석 연구들이 나타나고 있기에, 벤후저(2007)의 문화해석학 방법론에 따라 텍스트 분석과 함께 기독교적 조명을 실시하였다. 『깊은 밤 부엌에서』 그림책의 텍스트 자체 세계에서는 미국의 산업시대를 풍미하며, 판타지 장르로서 정신분석적 해석에 따라 어린이가 백일몽을 이루는 욕구 충족이 나타났다. 텍스트 뒤의 세계에서 그는 유대인 이민자 3세로서, 십대에 독립하면서 가진 불안으로 심리상담을 지속해왔었다. 그는 작가로서 비윤리적이며, 어린이를 생각하지 않는 작가적 태도를 가지고 있었다. 텍스트 앞의 세계에서 연구가들은 센닥의 그림책은 어린이보다 성인의 감정해소로 선호되는 경향이 있음을 밝혔으며, 진보적인 사상가들이 그의 작품을 극찬하였다. 텍스트에 대한 기독교적 조명으로 텍스트는 자아주의 세계관을 가지고 있으며, 하나님을 떠난 인본주의 및 심리학의 영향이 우리 사회의 자아주의를 더욱 양산하게 되었음을 밝히고 있다. |
| 영문 초록 | The picture book genre began with Orbis Sensualium Pictus, which was the first picture book and was written to teach children about God's existence and word. In today’s world, however, picture books’ role has shifted from teaching children to representing their intense and exciting emotions and expressing what it means to be a child. Researchers view Maurice Sendak's picture books as marking this shift. Given the publication of an increasing number of psychoanalytic interpretations of Sendak’s picture books, this study followed Vanhoozer (2007) and performed text analysis on one of Sendak’s books from a Christian viewpoint. In Sendak’s In the Night Kitchen, within the world the book’s actual text creates, a child is enjoying the United States in the industrial era. According to a psychoanalytic interpretation of the book as belonging to the fantasy genre, the child fulfills his needs through daydreaming. In the world behind the text, this study found that the author was a third-generation Jewish immigrant who received psychological therapy for the anxiety he developed as a teenager due to becoming financially independent at that time and having to support himself. As a writer, the author’s attitude was unethical, and he did not care about children. Regarding the world before the text, researchers have revealed that Sendak's picture books tended to attract more adults than children, with the former viewing them as a form of emotional release; consequently, progressive thinkers praised Sendak’s picture books. Approaching the text from a Christian viewpoint, this study found an egoistic perspective, suggesting that humanism and psychology led people further away from God, producing more egotism in our society. |
