| 국문 초록 | 본 논문은 북아일랜드 평화구축 과정을 존 폴 레더락(John Paul Lederach)의 갈등전환 이론에 따라 분석하고, 이를 한국 교회의 평화 중재자 역할에 적용할 수 있는 가능성을 모색하였다. 특히 종교 정체성에 기반한 북아일랜드 갈등의 맥락 속에서 교회와 중재자들이 수행한 관계 회복과 구조 전환의 실천 과정을 고찰하였다. 이를 바탕으로, 분단된 한반도와 최근 심화된 사회적 갈등 상황 속에서 한국 교회가 공적 영역에서의 중재자로서 수행할 수 있는 신학적·실천적 방향을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 갈등을 단기적 해결이 아닌 관계와 구조의 전환으로 이해하는 레더락 이론의 관점을 한국 사회와 교회 현실에 적용하고자 하며, 교회가 평화 구축의 화해 신학적 주체로 기능할 수 있는 가능성을 이론적으로 분석하였다. 또한 교회의 참여적 리더십, 회복적 정의 실천, 대화 촉진 플랫폼 구축 등의 구체적 전략을 통해, 한국교회가 긍정적 평화의 실현에 기여할 수 있음을 제안한다. |
| 영문 초록 | This study analyzes the peacebuilding process in Northern Ireland through the lens of John Paul Lederach’s conflict transformation theory and explores its applicability to the Korean church’s role as a mediator for peace. It examines how churches and mediators in Northern Ireland, shaped by religious identity, engaged in relational restoration and structural transformation within the broader context of ethno-political conflict. Based on this analysis, the study proposes theological and practical pathways through which the Korean church can act as a public mediator amid the realities of national division and escalating ideological polarization. Rather than treating conflict as a short-term problem to be resolved, the research adopts Lederach’s perspective that frames conflict as an opportunity to transform relationships, structures, and narratives. This paper argues that the Korean church can serve as a theologically grounded agent of reconciliation by embracing participatory leadership, restorative justice practices, and dialogue-based platforms. Ultimately, it suggests that such initiatives can enable the church to contribute meaningfully to the realization of positive and sustainable peace on the Korean Peninsula. |
