본 논문은 고대 이스라엘 왕 다윗이 어떻게 정상인의 일상에서 출발하여 중범죄자로 변화되어 갔는지 성경의 내러티브(사무엘하 11-12장)를 토대로 그 범죄행동을 분석해 본 후 현대 사회에 적용가능한 정책적 시사점을 탐구한 연구이다. 이를 위해 다윗의 범죄행동을 크게 성범죄와 살인교사 영역으로 대별하고 다시 이를 각각 5단계로 세분화시킨 다음, 여기에 레클레스의 견제이론을 구성하는 4대 요인(내적 견제, 외적 견제, 내적 압력, 외적 유인)을 매칭시킨 매트릭스를 작성하여 그 내용을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 환경으로부터 성적 충동을 야기하는 외적 유인이 주어졌을 때, 호기심으로 인해 내적 압력은 높아진 반면, 내적 견제의 약화와 더불어 감시의 부재로 인해 외적 견제마저 상실되어 성범죄를 범하기에 이르렀고, 범행을 은폐하려는 과정에서도 왕정체제의 조직문화가 공모를 용이하게 한 탓에 외적 견제가 무너져 살인교사의 범죄까지 범하게 되었으나 나단의 책망으로 외적 견제와 내적 견제가 복원되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 정책적 시사점으로는 첫째, 권력층의 밀행적 결정을 차단하는 구조를 마련해야 하고, 둘째, 권력층의 비행을 견제하기 위해 독립적인 감사기능을 가진 옴부즈맨 제도를 운용해야 하며, 셋째, 중화 언어 탐지 및 차단을 위한 훈련을 해야 하는 것을 제안하였다. |

This study applies Reckless’s Containment Theory to analyze how King David’s power-based sexual offense and instigation of murder (2 Samuel 11-12) developed from ordinary conduct into grave crimes and explores relevant policy implications. David’s actions are categorized into two domains—sexual offense and murder by instruction—and subdivided into five stages. Each stage is examined through a qualitative matrix incorporating the four key variables of Containment Theory: inner containment, outer containment, internal pushes, and external pulls (including environmental pressures). Findings show that external stimuli aroused David’s desire, heightening internal pressure while weakened self-control and lack of oversight dismantled both inner and outer containment, leading to sexual misconduct. The monarchical culture of collusion facilitated concealment and escalated into murder, but Nathan’s prophetic rebuke restored external containment, and repentance (Psalm 51) rebuilt internal containment. Policy implications include establishing structures that prevent clandestine decision-making by the powerful, implementing an independent ombudsman with auditing authority to monitor elite misconduct, and training programs to detect and interrupt neutralizing or self-justifying language. |
