본 논문에서는 현대 기술을 문화로서 파악해야 하며, 이에 따라 교회가 적극적으로 현대기술의 문화적 도전에 대처해야 함을 주장한다. Ⅰ절에서는 기술이 어떤 종류의 문화인지, 그 중에서도 현대 기술이 어떤 특징을 가지는 문화인지 살펴보고, 문화로서의 기술에 대해서도 문화전략이 필요함을 논한다. Ⅱ절에서는 문화로서의 현대기술이 교회에 던지는 도전들을 구체적인 예들을 가지고 살펴본다. 기술철학자들의 이론을 빌어 현대기술이 기적을 거부하고, 공동체를 붕괴시키며, 인간을 대상화시키는 경향이 있음을 지적하고, 교회가 이러한 부분에 보다 민감하게 반응하여야 한다고 주장한다. Ⅲ절에서는 미국의 아미쉬(Amish)공동체의 기술 수용에 대한 입장을 소개하고, 그들이 위에서 제기한 현대기술의 문제점을 어떻게 극복하는지 알아본다. 결론에서는 기술의 개발 뿐 아니라 기술의 선택적 사용 또한 하나의 문화적 전략이 될 수 있음을 강조하고, 이미 주어져 있는 기술들을 어떻게 사용할 것인지에 대한 고민이 필요함을 제안한다. |
| 영문 초록 |
This paper argues that the church should recognize modern technology as an important element of human culture and find an appropriate response to it. The first chapter concerns the characteristics of modern technology as a culture and emphasizes the need for the Christian church to elaborate a cultural strategy. The second chapter is about the challenge that modern technology poses against the church. It is argued that modern technology tends to refuse miracles, destroy communities, and objectify humans, which deserves more attention. In the third chapter, the Amish community is introduced, especially how they decide to use or not to use a certain technology. They have developed an interesting way of life specifically in order not to subject themselves to modern technology. In conclusion, it is suggested that Christian strategy for technology as a culture could be considered in terms of how to use ti selectively and wisely, as well as how to develop it further. |
