영문 초록 The subject that this paper deals with is: Is ethical norm good simply because it is the will of the God or because of its own inherent goodness? Christian ethics affirms the first reason, while idealistic ethics affirms the second one. This paper attempts to demonstrate that different concepts of God lead to different attitudes to the subject in question. According to the Idealism of non-Christian ethics, for example, Platonic Ideas exist independent of God. Christian ethics denies such an approach. The basic assumption upon which Christian ethics is built is that nothing exists independent of God and that the property and the existence of the God result from nothing else. Creation according to Christian interpretation demands it is work of the God who enjoys absolute free will and sovereignty.
This paper provides a critical evaluation of Platonic ethics as a representative of Idealistic ethics. My thesis is, first, that Christian thinkers of the early church 'baptize' the conception of Platonic ethics by replacing Platonic Ideas with the thoughts of the God. Secondly, inconsistency runs within the Platonic concept of God itself which Plato himself was aware of. This inconsistency is found in the works of Plato where he both identified and distinguished God (and gods) with Ideas. Christian thinkers who regarded Platonic Ideas as thought of the God dissolve Platonic inconsistency of the conception of God. Plato would have accepted this solution with delight if he heard it. This is a good example to show how Christian thinkers (philosophers) use non-Christian concepts for their Christian apologetical purpose.
