| 영문 초록 | This is the second part of the paper entitled, "Is Christian Scholarship in Academia in Prospect in Korea?" The aim of the paper is to diagnose, and hopefully prescribe for, the Korean Christian scholarship in the academic circle. In order to achieve the aim, I have tried, above anything else, to enunciate the three conditions in securing the robust Christian scholarship. They are in the final analysis (i) the presence of the highly pervasive influence of Christian religious geritage; (ii) the intellectual challenge against historic Christianity and Christian worldview, and (iii) an association of highly respected Christian scholars inside the academic world. I abstracted the three conditions from the example of Abraham Kuyper, the status of Christian scholarship in the history of American higher education, and the recent development of the SCP(Society of Christian Philosophers) in America. In Part I of the paper, I have described the case of Abraham Kuyper and presented a brief sketch of the higher educational situation in America. In this Part Ⅱ, I would like to continue the project by tracing the early development of the SCP and introducing the work of William P. Alston. The most crucial protion of the paper, however, is the final section which deals with the diagnosis of and prescription for the status of Korean Christian scholarship. Generally speaking, my appraisal is not on the rosy side. That is, right now the securing conditions for Christian scholarship are not fully present in Korea. This does not mean a mindless waiting or shrugging our shoulders in regard to the situation. Therefore, I have tried to identify the potential barriers to promothing the Christian scholarship in academia, and finally suggested a number of courses of action to facilitate such valuable activity. |
