이 글에서 필자는 경제의 원리를 기독교철학적으로 논의하고자 시도했다. 필자가 생각하는 기독교철학은 성경의 가르침을 철학이나 사회과학 이론과 대화하면서 현대인들이 이해할 수 있는 언어와 논리로 설명하고 설득하는 활동이다. 기독교신앙으로 볼 때, 경제를 일반적으로 정의하는 것만으로는 불충분하다. 성경적인 경제원리는 모든 재화의 본래 소유자가 하나님이므로 인간은 소유주의 뜻에 따라 재화를 관리하고 사용하는 권한을 위임받았다는 데서 출발한다. 이 말은 크리스천이 경제활동을 통해 재화를 사회적으로 획득했을지라도, 그 재화는 자신이나 가족의 배타적이고 독점적인 소유물이 아님을 의미한다. 따라서 기독교적인 경제원리는 ‘사유재산권’과 ‘책임’과 ‘자유’라는 경제원리와 ‘정의’, ‘평등’, ‘사랑’(charity)의 정치 내지 윤리적 가치를 성경적인 경제원리로 해석하고 적용하는 일이라고 생각한다. 이 점에서 존 롤즈의 『정의론』은 현대 자유주의와 자본주의의 한계를 안에서부터 극복하려는 시도로서 자유주의에 대한 기독교적 관점에 접근하고 있다고 생각된다. |

My paper deals with a debate of Christian philosophy on economic principles. I mean Christian philosophy as a way of thinking in which the teaching of the Bible is dialogued or confronted with philosophical and sociological theories, and as a way to persuade the contemporary people through this thinking. A Christian thinking does not content itself with a general definition of economic principles. The biblical principles of economy refers to God the Creator as the original owner of all commodities and the human being as the steward of these commodities. This means all money and property are not a exclusive possession for the Christian people. The Christian principles of economy are to interpret the economic concepts like proprietary rights, responsibility and political and moral values like freedom, justice, equality, charity from the Biblical perspective. I find John Rawls' A Theory of Justice as an attempt to overcome the limites of modern liberalism and capitalism. His theory comes near to the Biblical perspective of economy. |
