영문 초록 Faced with various new social problems many kinds of social movements have appeared in the modern european history. Like this one can see many social movements in current Korean society with easy. Niether in Europe nor in Korea Christians have remained indifferent to this situation. Many of them have been engaged actively with various social movements, partly realistically and partly idealistically. This paper aims at overviewing the history of Christian social movements in Germany as an example and inferring general principles for Christian social movements from this description. The principles are summarized as follows: (1) Christian social movement means a sort of collective endeavors for the solution of the social problems, from the Christian perspective. (2) For those endeavors it is required that theories especially of society and history have to be developed from the Christian worldview. (3) practice in Christian social movement presupposes self-sacrificing spirit of the participants and change of their life at first. (4) Christian endeavors are not only motive-ethical (gesinnungsethisch), but also responsibility-ethical (verantwortungsethisch), because they are oriented in principle not to the participants self, but to their neighbours.
