| 국문 초록 | 이 논문은 기독교적 세계관에 기반하여 창작된 전영택과 임옥인의 소설을 검토함으로써, 한국 기독교문학의 나아갈 방향을 모색하고자 하였다. 두 작가는 소외되고 가난한 사회적 약자를 주된 인물로 등장시켰으며, 이들의 고통에 대한 책임이 우리에게 있음을 보여준다는 점에서 유사점을 갖는다. 이들이 소설적 대상으로 선택한 소외된 이웃은 성경에서 말하는 과부, 고아와 다르지 않다고 하겠다. 그런데 두 작가가 대상 인물들에게 시혜적이거나 동정적인 연민을 보이는 것이 아니라, 그들을 또 하나의 주체로 인정하며 진정한 사랑을 모색한다는 점에 주목해볼 필요가 있다. 전영택의 경우는 냉정한 관찰을 통해 관찰 인물뿐만 아니라 독자에게까지 윤리적 책임을 묻는 효과를 얻고 있으며, 임옥인은 가족의 중요성을 강조하되 혈연을 넘어선 비혈연가족 공동체의 가능성을 모색하고 있다는 점에서 독특하다. 이 소설들은 하나님에 대한 사랑과 이웃에 대한 사랑을 하나로 통합하는 기독교 교리 위에서 창작되었다는 점에서, 또한 기독교적 사랑을 관념적인 구호가 아니라 보편적이고 감동적인 주제로 형상화했다는 점에서 성공적인 기독교소설로 평가할 수 있다. |
| 영문 초록 | The purpose of this study was to search for directions in Korea''s Christian literature by reviewing Yeong-taek Jeon''s and Ok-in Im''s novels written based on the Christian world views. Both the writers made the socially weak who were alienated and poor their main characters and showed that the responsibility for their suffering lied in all of us. The alienated neighbors that they wrote about in their works are not much different from widows or orphans in the Bible. It should be noted, however, that the two authors recognized them as subjects and searched for true love instead of lavishing charity or sympathy on them. While Jeon created an effect of holding the readers as well as the observing characters ethically accountable through calm observations, Im was unique in that she explored the possibility of a non-blood family community beyond the blood ties, emphasizing the importance of family. Their novels are considered to be successful Christian novels in that they were created on the Christian doctrines that unite love for God and love for neighbors together and promoted Christian love with universal and touching topics instead of abstract slogans. |
