| 국문 초록 | 한국에 약 100개교의 기독교대안학교들이 있는데, ‘기독교대안학교’라는 명칭은 너무나 포괄적이어서 그 학교의 성격을 제대로 드러내지 못한다. 본 연구는 이러한 기독교대안학교들의 특성을 잘 반영할 수 있는 기독교대안학교의 하위 분류체계를 마련하고자 하는 시도로서 다섯 가지 유형에 따라 분류하고자 하였다. 즉, 기독교국제학교, 기독교수월성학교, 기독교긍휼학교, 대안기독교학교, 기독교미인가학교로 유형화하고 이러한 분류가 타당한지, 각 유형의 성격은 무엇인지, 그리고 각 기독교대안학교들은 자신의 학교를 어떤 유형으로 인식하고 있는지 등을 분석하였다. 연구의 결과, 국제성, 수월성, 긍휼성, 대안성, 기독교성을 강조하는 정도에 따라 다섯 가지 유형의 기독교대안학교들로 분류되는 것은 의미있는 분류임이 드러났고, 기독교미인가학교는 기독교성을 강조하면서도 대안성 또는 수월성을 강조하느냐에 따라 다시 두 종류로 세분화될 수 있음을 보여준다. 각 유형의 기독교대안학교들은 한 가지 특성만을 지니는 것이 아니라 다른 특성들도 공유하고 있으며, 반대 성향의 성격이 약하게 나타남으로서 주된 특성이 더 강조되는 경향이 있다. 그러나 각 유형별 기독교대안학교들이 자신을 그 유형으로 인식하고 있는 것은 아니며, 대부분의 경우 자신을 대안기독교학교 또는 기독교미인가학교로 인식하고 있다. 이러한 유형 분류는 향후 기독교대안학교들이 자신의 정체성을 확립할 뿐만 아니라 유형별로 보다 교류를 심화시킬 수 있는 기준이 될 수 있다. 또 학부모들에게 학교를 선택할 수 있는 기준이 될 수 있으며, 기독교대안학교 연구의 준거로서 활용될 수 있을 것이다. |
| 영문 초록 | The study aims to analyze the classification of Christian alternative schools in Korea. There are more than 100 Christian alternative schools in Korea. These schools are so diverse in their characteristics that the term “Christian alternative school” is too broad to clarify the characteristics of each school. Actually, there are many different kinds of Christian alternative schools in Korea. This study tries to classify Christian alternative schools into five sub-categories: Christian international schools, Christian excellence schools, Christian charity schools, Alternative Christian schools, and Christian non-accredited schools. In order to achieve the aim of the study, a survey was used. Participants were principals, teachers, parents, and students of 26 Christian alternative schools in Korea. The research questions are as follows: 1. Is it relevant to classify Christian alternative schools into five categories? 2. What are the characteristics of the schools in each category? 3. How does the school view its own identity? The outcome of the study shows that the classification of Christian alternative schools into five categories is relevant. The schools that belong to each category tend to emphasize its own characteristics among internationality, excellence, charity, alternativeness, Christian approach. Also the study reveals that the schools in each category have not only the main emphasized characteristics but also other characteristics. For example, Christian international schools tend to emphasize not only internationality but also excellence, while Christian charity schools tend to emphasize not only mercy but also alternativeness. Most Christian alternative schools have a tendency to recognize themselves as an ‘alternative Christian school’, or ‘Christian non-accredited school’. This classification of Christian alternative schools will help the Christian alternative schools clarify their own identity, and the study will propose certain standards for choosing a Christian alternative school for parents who want to send their children to a Christian alternative school. |
