| 국문 초록 | 사회발전이라는 개념은 가치 함축적인 개념으로 근대화 과정을 달성하는 데 기여하는 양식으로 전개되는 사회구조의 변동을 말한다. 특별히 사회발전에서는 인간적인 삶의 가치가 중요하며, 삶의 가치는 개인이 타고난 잠재력을 최대한 발휘하여 자아완성을 이루고, 사회적으로는 문화공동체인 민족의 잠재적 문화역량을 충분히 펼쳐 문화적 성숙을 이루는 것이다. 이를 위해서는 물질적 정신적 삶의 질 향상과 선택과 참여의 자유 및 배분정의를 보장하는 ‘삶의 기회’를 담보하는 것이 필요하다. 이러한 관점에서 우리는 한국사회발전의 핵심적 지표로서 다음과 같은 사항들을 제시할 수 있을 것이다. ‘정치적 민주화’, ‘경제적 평등화’, ‘사회적 복지화’, ‘문화적 성숙화’, ‘통일과 환경보전에 대한 관심’이 그것들이다. 본 연구의 일차적 관심은 한국사회의 현대화 과정에서 이루어진 사회발전에 대한 기독교의 역할을 분석하여 보는 것이다. 한국 사회발전에 있어서의 교회공헌은 사회발전의 핵심적 지표를 중심으로 한 기독교의 역사적, 사회적 역할에 대한 분석으로 더욱 구체적으로 평가될 수 있을 것이다. 나아가 본 연구는 한국사회의 사회발전이라는 관점에서 기독교의 역할에 대한 평가를 시도한 후에 사회발전을 위한 교회의 역할에 토대가 되는 신학적 기초와 교회의 바람직한 사회참여 태도와 자세를 확인할 것이다. 결론적으로 가속화되는 지구화 시대를 맞이한 21세기 한국사회발전을 위한 교회의 과제를 제시하기로 하겠다. |
| 영문 초록 | The concept of social development is a value inherent concept and refers to the changes in social structure that evolve in such a way as to contribute to the modernization process. Within the concept of social development the human life is an important value, and the value of human life is measured by the degree to which an individual is able to fully utilize their potential for self-realization. On a social level, the value of life is measured by the degree to which the society can express the level of cultural maturity by fully utilizing the cultural potential of the nation as a cultural community. In order for such indicators to be appropriately utilized, it is important to ensure the ‘opportunity for life’ that guarantees the improvement of the quality of material and emotional life, the freedom of choice and participation, and the just distribution of wealth. From this perspective we may set forth the following indicators as being central to the social development in Korea. These are ‘political democracy’, ‘economic equality’, ‘social welfare’, ‘cultural maturity’, and ‘interest in re-unification and integrity of creation’. The basic interest of this study is in clarifying and analyzing the role of Christianity with regard to social development that occurred during the modernization process of Korean society. The contribution of Christianity in the social development of Korea will become clear when we analyze the social and historic role of Christianity with regard to the central indicators for social development in Korea. Therefore, this overview will first attempt to analyze the social role of Christianity in relation to the central indicators of social development in Korea. In concluding this study, I will attempt to validate and evaluate the role of Christianity from the perspective of social development, and go further to set forth new directions and guidelines for the role of the church in regard to social development, as well as to identify new social tasks for the Korean church as we enter into the new century, and an era of globalization. |
