이 논문은 신ㆍ구약 성경과 관련 문헌을 통하여 신체관, 스포츠, 여가관 등을 중심으로 성경에 나타나 있는 체육의 개념에 대해 고찰한 것으로서 결과는 대체로 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성경에서의 신체관은 피조의 영적 존재이다. 즉 인간은 하나님의 형상과 모양에 따라 창조된 육을 가진 존재이나 영혼도 소유하고 있다. 육체는 약하지만 무시할 것이 아니라 잘 관리할 책임도 있다. 일찍이 성경은 오늘날 체육의 개념인 심신일원론적이었다. 둘째, 성경에 나타난 스포츠는, 구약시대에는 주로 활, 칼, 창, 물매 등 전쟁과 관계있는 것과, 무용, 수영 등이 성행하였다. 신약시대에는 바울 서신에 여러 비유로 나타나 있는데, 이로써 스포츠가 부정되지 않고 긍정적으로 평가되고 있다는 것을 알 수 있다. 셋째, 성경에서의 안식일은 인간의 일과 탐욕에 대한 규제와 하나님이 보인 만족이라는 측면에서 여가적인 의미를 찾을 수 있다. 축제는 하나님이 만든 일종의 놀이라 할 수 있고, 특히 그리스도인은 예배를 통하여 축하와 기쁨과 자유를 누려야 하는데, 인간의 문화는 그것을 위축시키고 있다. 결국, 체육이 역사적으로 기독교에서 부정된 적이 많았지만, 성경에 나타나 있는 진정한 의미는 긍정적이며 오히려 권장되어야 하는 것으로 나타나 있는 것이다. |
| 영문 초록 |
This paper considered the concept of physical education in the Bible. The three topics presented were the view of the human body, sports and the view of leisure through the Bible. The results are as follows: First, the view of the body in the Bible, is that we are created by God as spiritual beings both in body and soul. Though the body is weak, we must not neglector the body, but we must manage it responsibily. In the Bible, one can identify similar ideas that are practiced in modern physical education, the Bible shares the same view as modern physical education. Second, in the Old Testament days, archery, fencing, spear and sling were all physical activities related to war, while dance and swimming were related to physical education and sports. In the New Testament days many metaphors are written in Pauline letters, it suggests that sports were not denied but were encouraged and venerated. Third, the Sabbath in the Bible encompasses the meaning of leisure, control of the human''''s work ethics, greed and God''''s satisfaction. Festivals are a sort of play God has made. Christians should enjoy celebrations, joy and freedom through worship, However human culture restricts these celebrations. Ultimately, though physical education has been denied in Christianity historically, the true meaning of physical education in the Bible is positive and encouraging message for all to practice and enjoy physical education. |
