이 글의 목적은 세속 대학에서 인성수업 사례를 통해 기독교적 인성교육의 가능성을 탐색하는데 있다. 이러한 목적을 위해서, 인성 개념을 인간의 본성과 인성의 사용 용법에 비추어 분석하고, 기독교적인 관점에서 인성교육을 어떻게 이해해야 하는지를 논의한 후, 대학에서의 인성교육의 실제 사례를 제시하였다. 세속교육에서는 인성은 물성이나 신성과 구분되는 특성으로 인간만이 가지고 있는 고유한 특성이며, 인성은 교육요소를 가르침으로서 함양될 수 있으며, 인성을 가르치는 독특한 교육방법이 있다고 보는 데 비해, 기독교적 인성은 신성에 비추어 이해되어야 하며, 인성의 함양은 성령의 사역에 의해 가능하며, 성령의 인도함을 자연스럽게 나타나는 하나님 백성의 성품이다. 이 점에서 세속 대학에서 기독교적 인성을 함양하는 것은 ‘원칙상’ 불가능하다는 점이다. 세속 대학에서의 인성교육은 기독교적 인성과 양립 가능한 인성을 길러주는 소극적 방식이나 지나치게 높아진 인간의 지혜가 보잘 것 없다는 것을 깨닫게 하는 간접적 방식을 통해서 가능할 것이다. |

The purpose of this paper is to explore the possibility of cultivating Christian humanity through demonstrating an example of teaching humanity in a secular university. To this end, I analyse the conception of humanity in terms both of the nature of human being and usages of the conception of humanity, discuss how to understand humanity from the perspective of Christianity, and show an example of humanity education in a university. Humanity in secular education has a unique characteristic which is distinguished from physical properties and divine nature. It is possible to cultivate humanity through teaching educational elements of humanity involving a distinctive method. In contrast, Christian humanity that is related to God’s image should be understood in terms of divine nature. According to the Bible, the cultivation of Christian humanity is only possible by ministry of the Holy Spirit, because humanity is a character of God’s people which is the fruit of the Holy Spirit. In this point of view, in principle, it is impossible to cultivate Christian humanity in a secular university. The cultivation of humanity in a secular university may only be possible in two ways: a negative way and a indirect way. The former way is cultivating humanity which is compatible with Christian humanity, whereas the latter is to recognize the insufficiency of human wisdom comparing with God’s wisdom. |
