| 국문 초록 | 스포츠 선교에 대한 필요성은 20세기 후반 이후 한국 선교 안에서 다양한 측면에서 이해되어 왔다. 첫 번째는 스포츠 선교의 필요성에 관한 관점에서 스포츠 선교가 복음 전파의 통로로서 선교적 방법에 있어서 효율성을 가진다는 점으로, 스포츠 선교가 감당할 수 있는 선교적 역할에 대한 강조이다. 두 번째는 스포츠 선교가 가진 선교적 영향력과 성과에 주목하는 방안이다. 1988년올림픽 개최 이후 선수촌을 중심으로 한국이라는 나라를 알리는 동시에 세계적으로 스포츠를 통한 외교력을 발휘하여, 한국 교회의 선교적 운동력을 시대적으로 개진시킬 수 있었던데 연유한다. 세번째는 ‘스포츠’를 인류 공통의 언어 혹은 보편적 매개체라고 보는 관점으로, 이것을 기반으로 스포츠 선교의 타문화권 접근성에 있어서의 수월성에 초점을 강조하는 입장이다. 마지막으로 스포츠 선교는 ‘미완성된 선교의 그림’ 혹은 ‘이슬람권을 비롯한 미전도된 종족’에 대한 시대적 사명 완수를 위한 효과적인 수단이라고 주장되어 왔다. 위와 같이 스포츠 선교의 필요성이나 중요성에대한 논의들은 스포츠 선교를 선교의 효과적 수단이나 혹은 복음 전도를 위한 목적을 위한 방법론의 한 측면으로만 이해한다는 점에서 한계점을 가진다. 이를 극복하기 위하여 ‘놀이’라는 측면에서 스포츠가 가지고 있는 장점과 선교라는 큰 틀 안에서 파트너십을 이루기 위하여 스포츠 선교를 접근하는데 있어서 학문적 재정립이 필요함을 언급하고자 한다. 그리하여 복음과 문화에 대한 동떨어진 이해를 좀 더 좁히고, 스포츠가 선교의 수단이 아니라 인류 본연의 놀이로써 한 언어가 될 수 있는 근거를 좀 더 강화 하려한다. 이 글에서는 스포츠가 가진 경쟁적 측면과 자율성을 바탕으로 선교사 중심적일 수 있는 단점을 보완하기 위하여 타자를 통한, 타자의 얼굴을 통해 바라본 스포츠 선교적 윤리의 틀을 세우고 자 하였다. 이 논문에서는 전통적 선교방법론에 있어서 선교사가 현지인에게 일방적이거나, 전달자가 수용자를 향해 선별하고 초대하여 복음을 전달했던 틀을 벗어나야 한다는 점에 대해 강조하면서 경계선을 무너뜨리는 환대의 선교, 섬김의 선교가 되어야 한다는 점을 개진하려고 한다. |
| 영문 초록 | Sports mission has become a significant part of Korean Christian mission and it has been understood as the powerful medium of the missionaries to impact the world for Jesus Christ. The Sports mission also has been evaluated as one of the efficient and influential tool as its missional result. It challenged missionaries in the field of professional, college, high school and youth levels to glorify God and to focus on serving local communities by equipping and encouraging people to become disciples of Christ. In Korea, hosting the 1988 Olympics presented an opportunity to take the advantages of World Mission, and during the period 1980-90, the purpose of addressing the Christian mission was to accelerate the demonstration of the Gospel where it had not yet been proclaimed. Sports missionaries and ministers believe that the Church is also called to do the unfinished task of the Great commission; sports can be the effective way to serve the unengaged people in the world. However, those belonging to the Christian mission overlook the essence of sports, more focus on the numerical increase as the symbolic illustrations of successful ministries, and compete amongst Christian missionaries. In order to extend the narrow understanding of sports mission, this paper suggests the redefined concept of sports mission in terms of ‘play.’ Human being are designed to ‘play and enjoy’ sports and Christian mission is aimed to serve the people. Those two estranged concepts must be integrated and reinforced for the future direction of sports mission. Moreover, this paper offers a critique of the outdated role of Sports Mission and, in particular, a critique of the disconnect between the practice of Sports Mission and what we consider to be the urgent issue of our era, Diaspora and Hospitality. Overall, this paper recommends the wholistic direction of Sports Mission in relation to the significance of Hospitality Mission. |
