본 연구는 한국 현대 기독교 미술의 현실 인식과 체현에 관한 연구로 자연과 생태 환경을 다루는 작가의 작품세계를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 기독교 세계관으로 자연과 생태를 조명하기 위한 기초연구로서 먼저 성경에 나타난 문화명령, 청지기 정신, 자연과 문화의 미래에 관해 다루었다. 그리고 현대미술 속에 나타난 대지미술과 자연 생태미술 작가들의 작품과 프로젝트에 나타난 개척과 정복, 회복과 돌봄, 순응과 상생의 경향성을 찾아볼 수 있었다. 기독미술 작가들의 작품은 생태와 환경의 문제를 예감하고 서술하거나 호소하는 단계로 출발하여 점차 파괴된 생태계를 회복하려는 조형적 노력을 보여 주고. 더 나아가서 자연과 조형작업을 동역하고 함께 상생하는 단계로까지 진전됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 현대미술에 나타난 자연 생태미술과 기독교미술 작가들이 보여주는 자연 생태미술의 현상은 외형적으로 상당 부분 유사성을 보여준다. 그러나 기독미술 작가들에게는 정복자로서의 지향보다는 돌보는 자로서의 책무에 집중하는 경향을 가진다. 그리고 개인적인 조형의지의 표명에 머물지 않고 대중의 공감과 소통을 중시하면서 프로젝트와 전시에 참여를 유도하는 공동체성을 보여주는 점에서 차이를 갖는다. 양자 모두 생태와 환경에 나타난 현실적 위기와 문제에 주목하지만 기독미술작가들은 창조세계에 대하여 기독교 세계관의 시각으로 생태와 환경을 바라보면서 회복을 위한 대안을 찾으려고 노력한다. 이러한 기독미술작가들의 생태 환경 작품은 현대 기독교미술의 지평을 기독교적 주제와 교회의 미술로서만 제한하지 아니한다. 기독교 세계관으로 창조주에 의해 빚어진 만물들을 다루면서 오늘의 현실을 조명하고 표현함으로써 현대미술계 안에서 책임 있는 청지기적 미술의 소명을 수행함으로서 문화 변혁적인 노력을 보여준다. |

This study examines the Korean contemporary Christian art's recognition and embodiment of reality by focusing on the artists' works dealing with the natural and ecological environment. In order to examine the nature and ecology through the Christian world view, the study primarily discusses the cultural mandate, stewardship and the future of nature and culture in the Bible. Also, this study compares and categorizes the artists' perspectives and reactions towards nature into three realms : pioneering and conquest, restoration and care, and compliance and coexistence. The phenomena of natural ecology in contemporary art and natural ecology by Christian artists show much similarity in appearance. However, Christian artists tend to focus on the humble definition of careers rather than conquerors. They also differ in that they show communality, which is intended not to settle on personal narratives and expressions, but to empathize and involve the public. Both pay attention to the real crises and problems in ecology and the environment, but Christian artists try to find alternatives to restoration by looking at ecology and the environment from the Christian world view of the Creator and the world. The ecological environment of these Christian artists does not limit the horizon of contemporary Christian art to Christian themes and church art. The Christian world view deals with all things created by the Creator and expands to illuminate and express history, reality and the future. In addition, it demonstrates cultural transformation efforts by fulfilling the calling as responsible stewards in the contemporary art world.
