이 글은 위기에 처한 문과학문 전체의 기독교적 재구축을 위한 하나의 시론이다. 위기의 원인은 하나의 총체성으로서 진리를 추구하게 만드는 초월(超越, transcendence)과 무한(無限, infinity)과 계시(啓示, revelation)의 차원이 학문세계 전반에서 무시되고 있기 때문이다. 계몽적 과학주의의 압도와 그에 대한 반작용으로 요약될 수 있는 현재의 상황에 대하여 이 글은 기독학문의 입장에서 평가와 대안을 마련하고자 한다. 논증은 문과학문의 필수성을 기독학문의 입장에서 논증하는 곳으로부터 출발한다. 이익관심(interest)이 아니라 관계관심(concern)이라는 핵심개념을 가지고 학문전체의 분류를 새롭게 시도하는 것이 그 핵심이다. 이로부터 당위의 물음과 존재의 물음을 본래적으로 함께 가질 수밖에 없는 독특한 학문분야, 즉 인간과 인간(들) 사이의 관계의 문제로서 문과학문이 재정립된다. 기독학문의 입장에서 문과학문은 신학이나 자연학(이과학문)의 하위분과로 편입되어서는 안 되며 오히려 당위의 물음과 존재의 물음을 교직(交織)하는 고유의 방법론을 충실하게 발전시켜야 한다. 이를 위한 방법으로서 이 글은 타자의 윤리와 다원성의 사회과학, 그리고 기독교적 입헌주의에 기대를 표명한다. 문과학문의 기독교적 재구축은 또한 책임의 윤리를 교육하는 문제에도 자연스럽게 연결된다.

My aim in this article is to present an attempt to reconstruct modern liberal art and social science from a Christian viewpoint. As the famous methodological debates among philosophers and social scientists of the last century showed, modern liberal art and social science have had great difficulty and struggle in dealing with the challenge of Enlightenment Rationalism or Scientific Radicalism. I think that an attempt of Christian reconstruction of them must start in this battle field by understanding the difficulty and struggle in Christian perspective. In Christian understanding, it is commonly accepted that the world can be analysed with three different relationships; (1) between God and human, (2) between human and human, (3) between human and the other creature. Each relationship defines human concern that leads each academic inquiry; for example, (1) normative the relationship between human and the other creature. And, very interestingly, (2) normative and factual concerns(sollen und sein) together always lead academic inquiry in the relationship between human and human where liberal art and social science locate, because human is believed to be created in the image of God in Christian world view. If the original co-existence of normative and social science should pay attention upon the revival and development of the forgotten methods in which human can bear those co-existential concern together. For this purpose, I request Christian scholars in this academic field to concentrate on some academic trends in recent days such as the Ethics of Others(Emmanuel Levinas), the Autopoietic System Theory(Niklas Luhman). |
