| 국문 초록 | 수천 년에 걸친 이 땅의 역사에서 기독교가 정착한 120여년의 기간 동안 우리 사회는 급격한 변화를 겪었다. 정치적으로 왕조의 붕괴와 식민지 시대, 전쟁을 통과하면서 분단국가가 되었고, 근대 유교체제에서 개화기를 거쳐 현대 민주주의로 넘어오는 문화사상적 충격 속에서 경제적으로는 농업중심에서 산업자본주의를 거쳐 정보화 시대로의 변환이라는 시대적 격변기를 지나왔다. 본 연구는 개화기와 함께 진입된 기독교의 영향력이 우리 사회에 미친 영향을 현대 소설에 투영된 모습에서 고찰하는 것에 목적을 두었다. 먼저 근대에서 현대로의 이행기를 그린 한국 최초의 장편소설 <무정>(1917)에서 유교적 윤리관을 대체한 기독교의 윤리적 영향력을 찾아내었고, <삼대>(1930)에 묘사된 3.1운동의 후일담을 통하여 식민지에 항거한 기독교계의 정치적 영향력을 볼 수 있었다. <상록수>(1935)에 나타난 기독교의 농촌 계몽운동에서 교육적 영향력을, <내 잔이 넘치나이다>(1983)에서 6.25 전쟁의 의미를 통찰하는 기독교의 영성을 발견할 수 있었다. <베데스다>(1988)는 1960-1970년대 새마을 경제운동의 발원지이자 실천적 주체가 기독교에서 비롯되었음을, <에리직톤의 초상>(1990)은 기독교 공동체가 1970-1980년대 민주화 운동의 피난처 역할을 담당하였음을 투영하고 있다. 다시 말하면 기독교는 우리 사회의 시대적 요구를 실천한 주체로서 우리 사회가 가지고 있던 수직적 윤리체계를 수평적 윤리체계로 전환시켰고 식민지 시대의 정치적. 경제적 독립을 위해 막대한 희생을 감내했다. 또한 전쟁의 상처를 기독교적 영성으로 치유하면서 경제 성장을 주도하였고 군부 독재를 종식시키는 중심적 역할도 담당했다. 따라서 이 글은 우리 사회가 시대적 고비마다 기독교 공동체의 희생과 헌신, 윤리적 지도력에 의지해 왔음을 현대 소설에 투영된 모습을 통하여 입증하였다. |
| 영문 초록 | During about 120 years when christian has settled itself down in Korean history, Korean society has been under the rapid change. In the political aspect, Korean experienced collapsed dynasty, colonial age, Korean War, etc, during which Korea was separated to the south and the north. Also, as having gone through the modern Confucian system, enlightenment of period, and finally, modern democracy, Korean has been under the cultural and political impact and also, finally, it reaches the epochal revolutionary turnover period named as the age of information from ago-focused business climate to industrial capitalism in the economic aspect. This study aimed to examine how Christian, which entered Korea together with the enlightenment of period and has influenced on Korean society''''s change process, has been projected on modern novels. First, this study found out the ethical leadership (influence) of Christian replaced with Confucian ethics at the first Korean full-length novel, "Mujeong" (1917), which described transition period from the modern age to the present age. And also, "Samdae" (1930) clearly exerted its political leadership occurring from Christian against colonization through its describing 3.1 independent movement''''s after-episode. "Sangroksu" (1935) showed the educational leadership from Christian rural enlightening movement and "My cup run over" treated Christian a spiritual leadership to discern what 6.25 Korean War meaned to us as well. "Bethesda" (1988) notified us that Christianity was the practical subject as well as the source of Saemaeul economic movement''''s between 1960s and 1970s and finally, “Portrait of Eric Tissue” (1990) reflected Christian community as a kind of refuge occurring from democratization between 1970s and 1980s. In other words, Christianity has leaded to convert existing vertical ethical system to horizontal ethical system in our society and also, it should submit numerous sacrifices for political and economical independence under colonial age. Also, as treating wounds of war through christian spirituality, it played essential role to terminate military dictatorship as well as to lead economic growth. Therefore, this study proposed the evidence on how much absolutely Korean society has relied on Christian community''''s self-sacrifice, devotion, and ethical leadership whenever it has been under the social transformation climax through its appearance projected on modern novels. |
